Setfords Elect is our consultant referral programme. It rewards you for introducing qualified lawyers to Setfords. When a referral you make successfully joins our platform and starts billing, you earn financial rewards for helping grow our network.
Firstly, you will receive £1,000 when your referral’s first bill is paid. Then, once their billings hit £50,000, you’ll earn 5% of everything they bill in their first 12 months at Setfords.There is no cap on your earnings. For example, if your referral bills £100,000 in their first year, you would earn £6,000 (£1,000 when their first bill is paid plus £5,000 from the 5% commission). With multiple referrals, you can increase your reward total even further.
Setfords Elect has been enhanced to make it even more rewarding. Now, you keep the £1000 referral payment, regardless of your referral’s billing level or future status. It’s no longer included in the 5% of their billings that you earn, meaning an extra £1000 in your pocket.For example, when they bill £100,000 in their first year, you’ll now earn £6000. Before the scheme was improved, you would have earned £5000.
You can refer any qualified lawyer you believe would thrive at Setfords. They must be eligible to practise in England and Wales and meet our standard onboarding requirements. You can refer former colleagues, peers, acquaintances, or lawyers you have encountered in your professional network.
Yes. Referrals must be new to our recruitment process; you cannot claim for someone already in active discussions or previously referred by another consultant.
Yes. Before submitting a referral, you must ensure the individual has agreed to be contacted by Setfords. By making a referral, you confirm that you have obtained their consent for us to reach out to them regarding opportunities at Setfords.
You provide their name and contact details via our referral form or email. Our Lawyer Recruitment team will contact them directly, manage the conversation, and handle all follow-up and onboarding if they choose to join. You will not be asked to participate beyond making the introduction, making it simple to start earning.
You will be paid once your referral’s first bill is paid by their client. You keep this payment, regardless of how much they bill or their status at Setfords in the future.
The 5% applies to all billed and paid client invoices as soon as your referral hits £50,000 of billing in their first 12 months. Once they hit this threshold, you earn 5% of everything they bill both before and after hitting it. This is on top of the initial £1000 payment. For example, if your referral bills £80,000, you earn 5% on £80,000 (£4000). So, you earn a total of £5000, including the initial payment.The 5% commission is calculated every month. If a payment is due, we’ll notify you of the amount and ask you to submit an invoice. Once received, it will be paid to you in the same way and on the same schedule as your usual fee-split payments.
No. You can refer as many lawyers as you wish. There is no cap on the number of referrals or the amount you can earn.
If a lawyer has already been referred or is in active discussions with our recruitment team, we will notify you. Only the first referrer for each lawyer will be eligible for the reward.
Yes. You can refer opposing counsel or any lawyer you believe would be a good cultural and professional fit for Setfords, as long as you have their consent for us to contact them.
You will be updated at a few key stages. Firstly, when your referral has engaged with Setfords. Then, when they have successfully joined. Finally, when you have qualified for the £1,000 payment and the 5% commission.
Referral rewards are paid as business-to-business payments. As a sole trader or limited company, you are responsible for declaring these payments in line with your existing tax arrangements.
Yes. The 5% commission applies only to the first 12 months of your referral’s billing activity at Setfords, once they have billed at least £50,000.
You will continue to receive your 5% commission on any billed and paid invoices generated by your referral during the period they remain active, up to the 12-month limit.
