International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global celebration of women’s achievements, advocating for gender equality and highlighting the progress that still needs to be made. Observed on the 8th of March each year, IWD offers an opportunity for individuals and organisations to reflect on the contributions of women, challenge biases, and take action to promote equality. This year’s theme, Accelerate Action, emphasises the need for faster and more focused efforts to break down barriers, promote equality, and support women’s rights across all sectors.

This International Women’s Day, we welcomed our consultants to the Setfords London office for a coffee and cake morning with our Lawyer Wellbeing team—a chance to connect, reflect, and engage in meaningful conversations. The event provided an opportunity to share experiences, discuss gender equality openly, and enjoy delicious treats from Luminary Bakery, a social enterprise dedicated to empowering women who have experienced homelessness, domestic abuse, or exploitation.
Luminary Bakery provides training, mentorship, and employment opportunities, helping women rebuild their lives while crafting exceptional baked goods. By choosing their treats for our event, we proudly supported their mission and reinforced the importance of backing organisations that create lasting change for women in need.
