Setfords is the fastest organically growing law firm in the country. The full-service firm currently has over 340 consultants, with 121 joining during lockdown between March and December 2020.
In December 2020 the firm entered The Lawyer UK 200 for the first time, with a 30% increase in turnover to £17.6million for the latest financial year, placing it at 152 in the rankings. With over 10,000 law firms in the UK country, Setfords has grown from a start-up to one of the largest national firms in just 10 years.
Founded in 2006, Setfords was the first full-service law firm to launch a consultancy model. The Setfords model allows lawyers to set their own hours and targets and offers a fee-share of up to 80% of billings. Setfords has since won multiple awards for its working practices from The Lawyer, The Law Society and Lexis Nexis. In November 2020, it was named Law Firm of the Year in the Woman in Law Awards 2020 for its commitment to gender diversity.
Expansion in lawyer numbers has been further fuelled by the COVID-19 pandemic, as many lawyers have taken this moment to reassess their future – both within their careers and their personal lives.

The support team at its Guildford head office has also expanded, rising from 70 to more than 100. Setfords’ market-leading support package includes secretarial, digital and marketing specialists and a new wellbeing department. Setfords’ support team also includes a business development department which generated £5 million in fees for the firm’s consultants in 2020 and won the Lexis Nexis ‘Best in Field’ Award.
