We have been named the top platform firm, as well as the top hirer of all firms in the UK, in the Platform Firms Report 2024. The report reveals how the platform model is continuing to fuel growth and change in the legal services market, which until recently has been dominated by the ‘traditional’ law firm model.
Pioneering Platform Law
The report highlights Setfords’ position as the leading Platform Law firm in the UK. With over 600 lawyers, we have the largest headcount among all firms in our sector.
This news underscores the growing preference for platform law firms over traditional models, with many legal professionals now seeing fee-share firms as a first-option choice. Coming in at number one, we’re pleased to be pioneering this model and seeing more and more law firms influencing the direction of modern legal practice.

Another key finding of the report shows that Setfords has taken the lead with the highest number of hires in the UK 2023, welcoming 141 qualified lawyers.
We are not only the top hiring firm among platform firms, but also all traditional firms. This substantial accomplishment reflects the evolving legal landscape and the move towards fee share models. Furthermore, the majority of our hires are from traditional firms, further demonstrating the increasing popularity of the model in the wider market.
