If you are already a Setfords Consultant or member of staff, all you need to do is make that introduction.
We are looking for experienced lawyers who are ready to make a career move and who would excel in the Setfords environment.
In return, they get flexibility over where they work, control of their earnings potential, no office politics or glass ceilings, and a full suite of back-office support ensuring their time is focussed on client work.

But let’s get back to what you get. Here’s the math, and key terms:
If a lawyer you introduce (who hasn’t previously applied to Setfords) goes onto join us and bill, we will pay you:
- £1,000 once fees have been paid in full in respect of the new consultant’s first billed instruction with Setfords
- If the same consultant goes on to bill in excess of £100,000 in their first-year post-signing, we will pay you 5 per cent of their first year of bills paid (less the initial £1,000).
- This means if the introduced consultant bills £100,000 in year 1, we will pay you a total of £5,000
To put that into perspective, many of our lawyers bill in excess of £400k in their first year at Setfords.
All we need from you is:
- The candidate’s name, email and phone number
- Confirmation that the candidate has agreed to speak to us about a consultancy role at Setfords
- How you and the candidate know each other
- Their legal practice area and PQE
- Any other information you feel is important before we reach out
Once you have referred a consultant and they sign with Setfords, you will be automatically notified of their progress and when they raise an invoice.
